Description

The Director, working with the Paralegal and FOXproTEAMS structure, as well as Department leadership, will assist with and implement standardized processes across all offices and teams. The Director will also establish professional standards to be met by each team member in reaching and advancing through the firm's structure within the Paralegal structure and FOXproTEAMS. The position of firm-wide Director is a highly substantive and strategic position with a significant and visible management role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide leadership oversight of the Firm’s Paralegal Team and FOXproTEAMs structure.

  • Direct the planning, development and implementation of effective administrative practices, procedures and strategies. Responsible for the continuous monitoring and improvement of all related work.

  • Assist with the oversight of resource allocation, including proper staffing, skill levels and appropriate resources to meet client demands.

  • Interface with Department Leadership to understand current state of office workloads.

  • Provide coaching and developmental feedback to individuals at all levels of the team. Promote a clear and direct line of sight recognized by staff, both for direct and indirect reports, that are needed for a high-performance culture.

  • Prepare and provide routine/recurring reporting to Chief Practice Services Officer on metrics related to the Attorney Resource Center and Paralegal team.

  • Work with Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ employee(s). Manage department staff which includes performance management, interviewing/selection of new staff, developing and coaching always encouraging growth and motivating positive environment.

  • A key element of the Director position is fully utilizing and empowering Managers, Supervisors and Coordinators.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Other duties and special projects, as assigned.

  • Continuously seek opportunities to develop new skills.

QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES):

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • Prior experience in Learning and Development or as a Paralegal is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of fifteen years of related experience at a law firm or legal department required.

  • Minimum of five years of progressive people management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Must exhibit a high degree of initiative in managing multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment utilizing excellent judgment, and decision-making skills.

  • Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work with constantly changing priorities.

  • Professional and courteous communication with clients, attorneys, paralegals and staff is a must.

  • Excellent computer skills, including but not limited to proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and Word.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail required.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a team environment.

  • Demonstrate flexibility regarding client and legal team requests.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.

VISUAL ACUITY

Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
